Creating a mid-winter warm welcome back to campus.
WinterFest is UMSU’s welcome to Semester 2: a programme of events through Week 0 and Week 1 to ease new and returning students in with warmth and fun. In 2016 it ran from 20 to 30 July across the Parkville campus.
As Marketing and Events Manager at UMSU, I programmed the festival and ran it: the logistics, the marketing and communications, the stakeholders, and the sponsorship and stall sales. It opened with Carnival Day on Union Lawn, with stalls, games and prizes, and Clubs Day followed on 21 July. Around them ran art, live music, workshops, speed-friending, a movie night, parties and enough free food to feed a small army of hungry students.
