AM
New Zealand’s top-rated morning news and current affairs show
December 2021 to November 2023
Auckland, New Zealand
Producer, reporter and presenter on New Zealand’s top-rated morning news show.
AM was Three’s live morning news and current affairs show. Three hours a day, five days a week, everything from hard news to lifestyle and entertainment.
I started as set up producer. My job was to find the stories and the people worth hearing from, write the scripts and questions, and pull together the cameras, guests, graphics and video. Up to five segments a day. When news broke, the rundown changed, and so did my day.
Later I moved to chase and segment producer and reporter. That put me on the other side of the camera: reporting from the newsroom and the field, presenting live crosses, interviewing on air.
Live TV taught me three things I use at every event: prepare thoroughly, create content with the target audience in mind, and stay calm when change happens quickly and often.
