Melbourne Fashion Festival 2016 runways
11 and 12 March 2016
Melbourne Museum
Two runway events, 400+ guests each, 14 designers and a museum dressed for the runway.
The Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival is Australia’s largest consumer fashion event. In March 2016, I worked with Event Gallery, the agency producing the festival’s runways, as project manager for runway shows.
I oversaw delivery of two shows at the Melbourne Museum, each with its own set and styling: the venue dressing and styling, the logistics and the stakeholders, while the AV and stage management team called the shows.
On Friday 11 March, the GQ Australia Menswear Runway, presented by Asahi Super Dry, brought seven labels to the museum’s glass lobby, including M.J. Bale, Arthur Galan AG and Dom Bagnato. The next night, Premium Runway 5, presented by SHOP til’ you drop and supported by Schwarzkopf at Priceline Pharmacy, featured seven Australian labels including Shona Joy, Thurley, Finders Keepers and Keepsake. Each show drew 400+ guests.
