Cool Sh*t I've Done: UCSA Tea Party 2012
Like my previous post about my work with the Melbourne Fashion Festival, my time working for the UCSA was a real career defining moment.
This was a role I could have settled into for a long time - and if it wasn’t for the fact that it was in Christchurch post-earthquake and my friends and network were leaving town in droves, I could have really embedded myself here.
The job really was a dream, on the surface at least. I was the guy who (along with an awesome team) got to pull together all the big parties on campus. Every event sold out, without question, and I had creative license to really do whatever the hell I liked. So when I got the opportunity to manage the Tea Party - literally THE biggest single event on the campus calendar - I was over the moon.
It was a full-day gig of music, costumes and random antics - but behind the scenes, it was a shit-tonne of logistics and making sure the fun-police (aka campus security) and the real police were happy. My proudest moment was having the head policeman for liquor-licensing tell me my bar-queuing system was the best he had ever seen!
Anyways, I could wax-lyrical for ages about this one - but I’ll leave you to just check out the video for a snap-shot of the awesome day that was.
